Back from Sin City

I just flew back from the conference and boy our my arms tired. I'm a fucking zombie today. Damn. This weekend was sleep (and hopefully STD)-free, but I'm charged up with the fire of rock n' roll like nothing else. I'll write more when I'm coherent.

Be careful who you...

...don't have intercourse with. Inconceivable!(in my best Wallace Shawn voice.) They never did "it" proper, but she saved his drippings from a Lewinsky and used it to impregnate herself! Holy balls! I bet he didn't see that one coming. Um... so to speak.

Anyway, he's suing her for "sperm theft". In a similar case, I'm suing Kleenex.

Gosh, maybe you should trust the people you're having sex with? Didn't the movie, Kids, teach us anything?

If you need me this weekend...

...I'll be in Las Vegas on important Sunspot business.

Dude, the iPod is awesome!

Alright, I've only been using it for about five hours now, but I gotta say. The iPod is fucking sweet. I even have it synced up with my Yahoo! calendar and to-do list, which was totally easy because of iPod Agent which is freeware that any PC iPod owner should not live without.

Everything's so easy. No wonder artists love Apple.

Anyway, I'm just sitting back and listening to some Big Star right now. I shoulda bought one of these a long time ago.

Korn Guitarist Leaves...

...because he found Jesus? Is this for real? The dude's nickname is ahem... "Head". Yeah, that was St. Paul's nom de guerre in his band, too.

Ya know, I was just kinda shining up to Korn too, after years of thinking they sucked balls after Blind. Probably because of Jonathan Davis' contributions to the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. The movie wasn't very good (except it had my man, 8th Doctor Paul McGann, in it) but the songs were excellent.

Anyway, I hope this Korn guy finds what he's looking for, because if being a rock star isn't good enough for him, he's gonna need Jesus to help him.

High School Online?

It's cool that Waukesha made it into a national story on high schools going online, but don't you think it makes people miss out on the fun parts of high school? Socialization, meeting girls, getting your ass kicked by some redneck idiot in gym class... I dunno, I think home schooling means that you lose an important part of an almost universally shared American experience.

My favorite part of this story is the douchebag who's training to become a professional Irish dancer. That almost made me spit my coffee.

I almost envy these online students, I always had to wait to get home to look at porn, these guys can do it while they're in class!

I got an iPod last night...

...and it's fricking sweet, but I'm having trouble with my Firewire card, ugh.

If you have any cool tips about it, let me know. I wanna trick this motherfucker out.

What a Weekend

Friday's show with Vertigo Joe in Northfield, MN went really great. The crowd was super enthusiastic and we really had a lot of fun on the stage. It was a pretty big production, there was an assload of lights, cameras, sound equipment, people came on buses from the college, etc... The theater was pretty big, kinda like playing at the Orpheum in Madison or the Riverside in Milwaukee. It wasn't quite as big as those places, but with the balcony and the size of the stage, that's what it reminded me of. We should have some pictures of the show to put up shortly. Everybody was really cool, though. I'm hard pressed to think of the last time we were in Minnesota that we didn't have a great time. It was an interesting mix of people, there were a lot of college kids (they have St. Olaf and Carlton colleges in the area) and older locals. Wow, their Wikipedia entry on the town goes into some detail. People were talking about Jesse James a lot, because his gang had a nasty run-in Northfield. Anyway, it was a great show and I'm sure you'll see us with these bands again.

Wicked party on Saturday night, though. What happens in Mukwonago, stays in Mukwonago!

Oh, and I destroyed my phone in the washing machine on Sunday. I was trying to clean the sin outta my clothes from the night before.

I love parking cops.

When they leave me alone.
Hmm, according to this, vehicles will only be ticketed when it is necessary to plow residential streets. When I walked out to my vehicle this morning, I did not feel a burning desire to plow residential streets. I saw about 200 other cars with tickets too that did not feel it was necessary. What's more, it is hard to find a place to park because during the REAL snow emergency weeks ago the streets were so poorly plowed that snowbanks remain and take up some of the few remaining spots downtown. That and the fact that there is only one parking spot per every five vehicles with permits. Whores. Dirty whores.
If the city wants money, just ask for donations. How many times have we heard as a band the old, "We'll pass the hat around for tips" line. I picture all the parking enforcement vehicles perched on capitol hill in the morning like vultures waiting for a thin layer of snow that nobody will expect and then pouncing.

Oh, and if you are reading this and were driving the parking nazi car at the corner of park and dayton this morning and saw someone in a gray pickup with their window down and their middle finger extended in your direction, that was me. And I meant it.

The Oral Giraffe

Timbo from BoRd wrote a nice little song called "Oral Giraffe" inspired by some hijinks on the Sunspot Forum. Listen to the song and then tell Uncle Timmy how much you like it!

Finally a reason...

......to go to Kitt's Korner. I wonder if they'll still have bands there.

Whew, I'm just glad that the fine Dane County Board isn't freaking out about it. Looks like this might be the end of the world. I dunno, a strip club by a church? I'd be more worried about the closeness of the church affecting the business of the tittie bar, then the proximity changing Sunday attendance.

Well, they passed the law banning nudie clubs by schools and "places of worship", but it's too late for the poor, poor people of Pine Bluff, who are being oppressed by the evil naked women of Hot Rods.

I love how everyone is worried about the fucking children, like their parents are absolutely helpless. Most of their dads are probably gonna be at Hot Rods so that they can get it up when they go home.

Now that the place is running, here's something they should be worried about: maybe the female employees? Making sure that there's enough security, that standards of hygiene are being met, that the girls are safe, etc...

I think Dark Helmet said it best.

Back in Minnesota tonight!

Alright, I get to leave work early today to head back to right near the Cities in Northfield, MN where we'll be with our friends in

We did a fun show with them in Eau Claire a few months back and they invited us to do this show with them. I can't wait, there's gonna be video cameras, beer, great lights, beer, a huge PA system, beer, and some other cool stuff. Plus it's 18+.

What you say!

That's right, 18+ with beer. Damn. Make sure, if you're in the area to stop down. Tickets are $10 at the door, but gimme a call at 608-444-4819 while we're on our way up and we can get you the $7 tix.

Tomorrow during the day, we'll be hanging out at Down in the Valley music store in Golden Valley, MN. We'll be there at 11am. Make sure you stop down and say hi if you're out doing some shopping.

*Hot tips for rocking this weekend in Madison*

If you're on the East Side, our good buddies in Blamm-o will be at the Glass Nickel on the east side tomorrow night, 2/19. Show probably starts around 9pm. It's on Atwood. Get pizza, get beer, get rock.

If you're downtown tomorrow night, Apparently Nothing will be rocking the Rathskellar in Memorial Union. They'll be starting out the night and Awesome Car Funmaker will be closing it with some band from Chicago that's probably indie as fuck in the middle. Anyway, it's gonna be a good show, because there's two great Madison bands on the bill.

If you're on the West Side, go to either the East Side or Downtown and check out some live music. Or go to the Hody in Middleton. Ha, I'm kidding. For real.

Partying in Milwaukee and Madison last night

Had a good time last night in Milwaukee. Went to the release party for the band, On a Sun at a cool place called The Hi-Hat Garage on Brady Street. Really nice guys in the band and they've got an awesome merch, swag, and presentation. When I worked for The Badger Herald and did some writing for Goldmine, I saw a lot of major label press kits and packages. Their kit looked as good as anything I've seen. They even had a music video and it's probably the best video I've seen from a local band yet. It was done by Flagg Media out of Milwaukee. Nice work.

I was insanely motherfucking jealous. It looked damn close to anything I've seen on MTV.

We totally need to do a real music video. Our buddy, Steve Concotelli did a great job on the "Meat Market" video that's in the multimedia part of Radio Free Earth, but it's time to step it up. Seeing On a Sun's video was inspiring and made me start thinking that it's time to get in that game too.

They were really nice guys, their CD sounds pretty fucking good (it was done at a studio called "The Exchange" in Milwaukee and we met Kevin and Joe from the studio, really nice guys!), and the release party was a super fun time. Thanks to Andrea from Buzz Communications for inviting us. Last night was also effective as an advertisement for her company. She knows how to set up an impressive event. I'd like to see Madison bands do that sometime.

I even saw a friend that used to work with me on Late Night Madness, Madison's greatest public access show eva. Ha, how weird.

Got back to The Annex at about 11pm, just to hear the last few bars of Sugarfuse's set. Man, what a great bunch of guys. Honestly, Rockford has more down-to-earth and likable musicians than Madison does. WTF is with that? They'll be out in LA next month. I hope that show goes awesome for them! John, the sound guy, had the lights flashing like crazy for the big finale.

Oh Glam, how I love thee.

Also, checked out The Van Dammits for the first time. That's some high-energy shit they've got going on. Their double-time punk rock Sublime covers were great. It was fun hearing them and I'm sure we'll have a great time rocking with them at The Kryptonite in April.

Overall, it was a good night. I even got to watch an episode of Season 4 Sopranos when I got home. Remember the one where Johnny Sack wants Ralphie whacked because of the "98-pound mole removed from her ass" comment about Johnny's wife that Ralphie made in an earlier episode? I just love how a throwaway comment at the beginning of the season can fuel an entire episode's narrative later on. Ya know, I feel so bad for Ginny Sack. She seems so sweet and so hopeless with her weight struggle. And Johnny's so loving with her, even though he's so brutal to others. What great characters.

Go to The Annex tonight!

Two great Rockford bands at The Annex in Madison tonight. The mighty Sugarfuse are in town. We played a great show with them on Saturday night. Click here to check out the pics. I've got some more too at home that I have to scan.

Goddamn, I love that stuff. These guys know how to party and they're cool dudes. If you like good-time rock n' roll, make sure you head down for ALL-YOU-CAN-DRINK night. Yeah, that's right. It's like Old Country Buffet for alcoholics.

Also, The Van Dammits are gonna be there, I haven't heard them yet, but their name is awesome and we're scheduled with them at the Kryptonite in April, so they gotsta be good.

Cool pics from the High Noon

Here's Devious' pics from the High Noon last Thursday. Thanks, brother! They look great!

Here's some of my favorites:

Ben totally posing for the camera.

Me looking like I'm about to have a Grand Darth Maul Seizure.

The killer upstairs at The High Noon.

This one looks like I'm going sleepy-time or maybe I'm just trying to show off my massive biceps?

This guy...

...is awesome!

I love how it says that he was "possibly intoxicated" when he shot himself in his own ass.

Oh yeah, he was trying to scare off coyotes. What the fuck?! Scare off coyotes?? Did I miss an email or something?

Be My Valentine

In the words of the late, great Rodney Dangerfield, "We're all gonna get laid!" And if you don't have someone to love, don't feel bad, you can always get drunk and call The Hog Rule. Don't forget that, otherwise your friends can make fun of you. And trust me, we will.

I'm not really into Valentine's Day, because I think it's the way you should treat your loved ones all the time. But chicks are into it, so what's a brother to do? Anyway, I'm not gonna swim against the tide of history over something like the practice of exchanging gaudy gifts for oral sex.

Monday already?

Friday night started out with a bang at Sharky's in Eau Claire. It used to be called The Evolution and we had some fun times there with our friends in Orestus and The Goodyear Pimps. The WHYS Radio Benefit was a lot of fun and it was nice to see our friends up there again. There was something weird about the venue, though. Not only was it changed around a lot, but I thought the attitude of the place was different. In addition to the drinks being expensive (they didn't give me the band discount even after they said they did, fuckers), they forgot to turn the lights on for out first song! We played "The Heidegger Paradox" in the fucking dark, ha.

The guys from WHYS Radio worked really hard on making it a successful night. I think they made some money for their radio station, which was the really important part. We love supporting independent radio, the more voices and choices we all have, the better. Ya know, the people in Eau Claire really seem to be working for a successful indie radio station, kinda like WORT in Madison. It seems that a city of that size would have a hard time supporting it, but there really seems to be a hunger for it. People want an alternative and a choice. It's kinda like when I was talking about Clear Channel before. Everyone blames the homogenization of radio on them, but what are we doing to create the market that stations can sell the alternative to?

Special thanks to the guys in Adviziere for letting us use their bass cabinet and cymbals. Apparently, some people was drinking at Thursday's show at The High Noon and we forgot to load these essential items. To answer your question, yes, those people were us.

There were also some wicked fights at the bar on Friday, too, and a bunch of people got kicked out. That seems to be a trend in that bar, because The Evolution had some tough characters there as well. Anyway, Gingerjake was excellent and the guys from Delta 32 were great musicians (they even invited us to check out their massive tour bus, they seriously ride in style.)

Saturday night in Rockford was at this little joint called Mary's Place. Going there, we were kind of scared and excited at the same time. Wendy Lynn mentioned that one of her co-workers from Rockford said that the last time he was in that bar, he saw a homeless woman urinating on the pool table. We figured that we'd fit right in.

And we did. Thanks to Sugarfuse for inviting us out. We had an awesome time. The bartender was right on and we all were in the mood to party hard. Ha, we even had to actually draw straws to see who would be driving home that night! Last Ride put on a good set and Sugarfuse closed the night. Those guys really have a cool image and a great attitude. They'll be in Madison on Wednesday night at The Annex, make sure you head downtown to check them out.

Back to The EC tonight!

First of all, the High Noon Saloon show was so much fun last night. Thanks to Bascom Hill for rocking hard and helping us set up! Also, SAND put on a great performance to really close up the night. I just couldn't stop having a good time. You coulda put a gun to my head and said "Stop having fun" and guess what? There was no way I woulda been able to stop.

It's gonna be fun to be back in Eau Claire tonight. Yep, I think it's time to party. Again. Plus it's for a good cause- Getting indie radio back on the air in the Chippewa Valley, yo!

I Don't Get The Whole Royalty Thing

Royals are fucking lame. Sorry Brits, but they are. Get some celebrities with talent. Like Pauly Shore.

Anyway, that's a thought for a different day. So Charles and that Camilla ho are getting married. I get that part. But everyone's like, "The Church of England frowns on divorce." WTF? Wasn't that the whole point of Henry VIII breaking from Rome? C'mon, I've seen A Man For All Seasons, I know what's going on. Why is everyone making a big deal of that? Charles is the Prince of Wales, if he wants to change something in the church, he can do it. That's what the Anglicans are all about.

High Noon Tonight!

Yeeha!

I'm really excited to play The High Noon Saloon tonight. It really is a great place. My buddy Jeff and I stopped by last night after the WAMI Meeting in Milwaukee to hang out and pass some fliers out for tonight's show. The meeting was fun, it was an interesting presentation by the booker from the State Fair. What I like about those meetings is that not only do you get to learn something about the music industry every time you go, but people are interested in working together. Yeah, everyone is looking out for themselves, but there's no sense of competition. It's all win-win, because if you organize or trade shows, everyone wants those nights to be successful. It's not a dog-eat-dog kinda deal. I don't think the music industry is better when it's dog-eat-dog, because there's always room for great music. Maybe the possibilities from the live show aspect are becoming more finite because of the greater availability of entertainment options, but there will always be a need for good songs. And it's a market you can create for yourself through meeting new people who dig what you do.

Yeah, bands can argue and fight and get jealous over spots opening for nationals or battle of the bands-type pettiness. But no one show can make or break you, it's how well you treat people and how much you promote not one night, but a thousand nights. Everything is stretched over time. I've met plenty of bands that I thought were going all the way because they had these incredible rockstar shows, that had so much talent. But it becomes a competition- the bands break up, members end up hating each other, etc... Instant karma's gonna get you. Alright.

Anyway, The Nadas were playing at the club when we got there and they sounded absolutely great. A little country-rock on a Wednesday never hurt anyone. Great harmonies and some slick guitar work. Not much of a stage show, but no one was really jumping around anyway. Everyone was kind of chilled out and just listening or playing pool.

Went to The Annex afterwards, but The Heavils were just about done when I got there. I've never seen them live, only heard them on CD. What I've heard sounds great, though. Funny, The Annex has had Rockford bands almost exclusively the past several Wednesdays. They should probably bring in at least one local so that these shows are worth it for the bands making the drive. The All-You-Can-Drink thing is appealing, but you still gotta get people into the room with the music.

Anyway, if you're in Madison tonight. Come to the High Noon. It's on East Wash where the old Buy/Sell shop used to be. (We actually recorded Radio Free Earth in the basement of the place. That's where Cactus Studios was.) We're up first tonight and we'll be on a little after 9.

This Chick's a Real Ballbuster

Wow, this "lady" certainly has some cajones, so to speak. She ripped this guy's left nut right out of his scrotum because he wouldn't do it with her.

Great Googly Moogly, how hard would you have to tear a guy's sack to do something like that?

That's like the part in Under Siege when Steven Seagal rips that guy's windpipe right out of his throat. Remember that? How about the part where Erika Eleniak jumps outta of the cake? Yeah, I remember that. I must have rewound that twenty times when I was 15 years old, I think I freeze-framed and watched it in slo-mo too. Speaking of Erika Eleniak, check out her IMDB bio. Is it just me or is that a little frightening? Like it was written by, I dunno, maybe a STALKER?!? Creepy, yo.

Anyway, watch your balls around girls, you never know when they're gonna rip 'em off.

David Lee Roth Would Be Proud!

I'd be hot for this teacher, too.

Damn.

Idaho Punk Rockers Are Tough

Damn. This Molly Mohawk got scalped for being disrespectful. Boise punks are fucking hardcore, I guess. I've never seen any Madison punk rockers scalp anyone before. But then again, most of the time you see Madison punks doing anything, they're either getting their punk rock uniforms all gussied up or they're spanging.

If you're into panhandling, here's an excellent guide to getting started.

The Bandit...

...is looking rough. I hate to kick Burt when he's down, but he looked so good in Boogie Nights, didn't he? I thought he was gonna grow old graceful-like. Even fellow toupee-meister, William Shatner, looks better than Burt does.

I guess the 70's are really dead. No one's gonna think you have a real purty mouth anymore, Burt.

Worth Watching Cancelled Tonight

Looks like we're not going to be appearing on "Worth Watching" on Channel 4 tonight. I just got a call from Dennis Fawcett, the host, and he is violently ill. It's too bad because this would be our fifth time doing it and we want to make sure that everyone in the city knows about our show at The High Noon on Thursday. We'll reschedule for sometime soon, though/ We love to grace the public access airwaves and "Worth Watching" is always fun.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Sometimes, I'm so disgusted by this world I want to scream.

Two girls bake cookies for their neighbors, get sued, and lose. These girls should pay for this lady's anxiety attack? Yes, dropping off cookies at 10:30 is a little late... but so what? We live in a world where we don't need to communicate with our neighbors, we don't really even need to exist as part of a community. Everyone makes fun of the suburbs because of their lack of culture. I don't really think that's true, because the 'burbs have created their own distinct culture (the appeal of it is shown through its ubiquity.) It's that we no longer need to talk to our neighbors. We can exist in a bubble where we know characters on television better than we know people who sleep less than a hundred yards from us.

I don't even want to know my neighbors. How sad is that? They might be the nicest and sweetest people in the world and I have no desire to talk to them whatsoever. All I want them to do is to leave me alone. I wouldn't be scared if someone knocked on my door at 10:30 at night (my friends keep late hours), but my mother would be. I know how that lady who sued feels.

The judge should have drawn a line, though. Suburbanization isn't inherently bad at all. In fact, people owning their own property and homes has led to an increase in the quality of life (at least from a material aspect.) But it's also led us to a distrust of strangers and a detachment from the local community. Watch The Trigger Effect or the original treatise on suburban paranoia, "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street".

Why do you think the Internet is so popular? People are looking to belong and they find it wherever they can. I just got sad for these girls that got sued.

Why be nice?

Last Night in Milwaukee

Had a great time once again at the Guitar Bar on Water Street. That's gotta be the friendliest place on that strip. People come in there and want to hear music, it's not the frat boys and booty hos that usually wander that street desperately looking for play. It's got a cool ambience and we always have a great time. Thanks Donnis!

Also thanks to Jeff, Jena, and Anne for coming with us. Ha, we called Jeff at 7:30 and asked him if he wanted to come, he met us in five minutes in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Now, that my friends is a rock and roll soldier, through and through. Taylor and Morgan saved our lives with the pizza, too. See you tonight, guys.

Mike's dumbass move of the night: I left my Mastercard there, so my tab's still open if anyone wants to order some drinks on me. ;)

Guitar Bar in Milwaukee tonight!

Need an excuse to hit Water Street in Milwaukee tonight?

We'll be starting it up at about 10pm at The Guitar Bar. You know it, you love it. I heard a nasty rumor there's going to be the Newcastle girls tonight, as well.

Is it exploitative to buy beer from models? Not really. A lot of people get their jobs because they're hot.

Does that make it right? Right enough.

Good show at The Annex last night

Went down with some friends to The Annex for all-you-can-drink (and I did) Live Music Wednesdays and checked out our friends in Spinderson who put on a really good show. The opening band never showed up so they had to play twice the set as they're used to, but they delivered really well. Back in high school, Ben and I were writing cheesy metal songs (some of which we still play), while these guys have some talent. Back in the day, my voice would have been shot by the middle of the first set. These guys stayed positive even when the opener ditched, played a great show, and probably had to make it back to Rockford for school the next day. They're young, don't have any attitude, write catchy songs, and work hard. That's a winning combination and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

On a drunken note, I got up onstage and sang "Taking Care of Business" during their second set. Classic rock Canucks, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, must be rolling in their graves. (What? They're not dead, yet?) I just couldn't help myself. Funny part is, Wendy brought that song up at practice right before I went to the show. Coincidence? I think not!

Remember that "She's So High" song by Tal Bachman that was popular a few years back? It was the one that had "Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and Aphrodite" and that totally didn't fit because Cleo and Aphrodite were renowned for their beauty, while Joan of Arc was renowned for being batshit fucking crazy. Anyway, Tal Bachman is the kid of the guy from Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Pretty cool, huh?

Timmy from the once-mighty-hopefully-one-day-will-rise-from-the-ashes punk rock powerhouse BoRd enjoyed the set too. I just visited the BoRd website and it has their new logo. Alas, it looks great. He also put the final BoRd song ever written up in a demo version too. Make sure you go there to pay your respects and wish Timbo godspeed on his future musical endeavors.

What do you expect...

...from a Minnesota Viking?

Dante Culpepper ungifts necklace from paralyzed teenager. Do you think the three-time MVP-winning Super Bowl Champion with a Heart of Gold, Brett Favre, would do something like that?

I bet Dante Culpepper doesn't have a steak house, either. I hope that Viking gets haunted by Reggie White's ghost and gets sacked in his dreams.

Just added La Crosse for 2/4

Just booked 324 for tomorrow night. Which is awesome because we always have an sweet time there. Here's some pics from a show we did there a while ago.

My favorite is this one, though.

That's right, that's Ben and my roommate, Dan. He's currently keeping the world safe for liberty somewhere in Iraq. I'm sure he'll fare better against the forces of Islamofascism than he did against these cowgirls here. They were giving a feather for every shot of tequila you drank and Dan was definitely the Chief of the Tequila Tribe that night. I think he topped out at around 12 shots. Haha. My favorite part of the evening was after the show. Right when we were done packing up, Dan climbs to the top of the van and gets all ready to surf it to the afterbar. We're like, "C'mon down, Dan" and he's trying to convince us that we're in Teen Wolf.

Speaking of car surfing, here's something interesting. In the 80's, my sister was in high school and someone she knew died while car surfing in the Mukwonago High School parking lot. I tried to Google the story so I could link to it here, but I couldn't find it. The only mention that Google found on the Internet was the death being mentioned in a sermon that someone put online. Weird, eh? Looks like that people will have to use... what are they called? Oh yeah, libraries to research events that happened before 1994. I always figured if it wasn't on the Web, then it didn't really occur.

Hmmm... Public Access...

Damn. We never got to get as nasty as The Mike Hunt Show when we used to do Late Night Madness. There is some great comedy to be had in hardcore porno, though. I wonder if Worth Watching will be like that on Monday night when we're on Channel 4. I guess you'll have to tune in and see.

Read to the end of the article on this guy and see that he might be some kinda 'champion of free speech', but he's lonely. That made me sad, but it also made me realize that porn, as wonderful as it can be sometimes, can alienate people socially. Right before I went to bed (and I was just about to put away my laundry), Boogie Nights (still Paul Thomas Anderson's best film) came on and *SPOILER* when you see that scene where Don Cheadle is turned down for the loan for Buck's Super Cool Stereo Store, you realize what kind of stigma the sex industry can attach forever. *END SPOILER*

I mean, even with all of the acceptance it has in our generation now and porn stars on VH1 and all the time on HBO, there's still something more than just a little dirty about it. I'm not sure I'd even want to date a stripper, not to mention a porn star. I just finished reading the book, Brothel: The Mustang Ranch and its Women, and I found myself less of a supporter of legalized prostitution than I was before. Yeah, it's a victimless crime, but vulnerable people still get exploited. Sex still isn't just a friendly handshake and the women and men involved still can't completely separate themselves emotionally from it. Anyway, it's a good book, I'd recommend it... if you're interested in the inner-workings of Nevada's legalized whorehouses.

Anyway. Good luck to Mr. Hunt, I hope he finds happiness and companionship somewhere.

Maybe I'm the one that needs to loosen up a little.

Sunspot Interview MP3 from 1/16/05

I've taken this off of the front page of the site, so I can put the MAMAs Voting announcement on there.

Listen to our interview from 1/16 on WJJO.

It was a fun interview and I almost was able to make it out without making an ass of myself (but not quite!)

You must listen to Elvenking

Dude, I know this band's kinda ridiculous, but as far as folk metal goes, they seriously rock. Elvenking. Yeah, their lyrics (which are hilarous) are about like being a pagan or something, but since they're Italians singing in English you won't understand anyway. Plus, we all liked Lord of the Rings, this is music perfect for Dungeons and Dragons game. That's right, I said it. What are you gonna do about it? I'm not talking about the new stuff by lameass Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast. I'm talking about old-school TSR, baby, right outta Lake Geneva, WI.
